Poverty Transformation Programs

We understand the results of poverty. Poverty early in life helps to set into motion a pattern of anti-social behaviours that are difficult to change once learned. Poor families are the target of title pawns, rent-to-own and payday loansharks. Things that are associated with povery such as parental divorce and unexpected job loss make life more difficult.

Dental and visual care is nonexistant. Urgent needs for items such as pain medicine they can't afford may temp people to resort to street drugs and sometimes even bartering for those.

The inability to make bail for petty crimes will often cause a person to plead guilty to avoid long periods in jail waiting for a trial. Families already having difficulty will then have to do without the breadwinner in criminal cases where another person could avoid easily with a bondsman. Living situations born of necessity can prevent welfare assistance. Parents often can't get a babysitter yet must work. Entire families are sometimes homeless. Poorly educated parents or those in difficult work situations may not be able to help their children with homework. Girls escaping abusive homes become the target of pimps who recognize the fact. Sometimes they are used as drug carriers. They are more likely to go to jail as ruaways.

Answer: Poverty transformation is a means to resolve a host of issues with real solutions that not only create situaltions where people can collaborate with community organizations to improve their lives. It also gives them the ability to give back to their community by helping train and mentor others.

This allows your organization to move from being a source of charity to educator. Participants know quality is expected of them. They realize that they are needed, valued and have a purpose for getting up every day.
